Every House of Cassandre collection is an intentional co-creation with ateliers who share our dedication to conscious craftsmanship and care for the planet. By ensuring fair wages and ethical working conditions, we actively uplift the artisan communities who bring our designs to life, transforming craft into a channel for sustainable livelihoods.

This collection pays tribute to the revival of ancestral natural dyeing techniques, a circular process that heals the soil, uplifts the makers, and ultimately brings sustainable luxury into your home.

The process begins with gathering plants, preparing the dye bath in a ritual of natural chemistry, and finally applying natural mordants to seal the colors into the threads. These living pigments are drawn from various flowers, plants, and shrubs. Our luminous golden yellow, for example, comes from marigold blossoms cultivated by the artisans themselves, while madder root yields a rich, peachy red. The process of natural dyeing is complex, yet it has stood the test of time, a lineage of knowledge passed from one generation to the next.

MEET OUR PARTNER

Anna Karhu-Cormier is a multidisciplinary artist and botanist based in Finland. Her practice explores the sensory and poetic relationships between humans and plant life through scent and visual art. Working with plants that have long histories in traditional healing practices, she engages with the material and symbolic qualities of the Finnish natural environment.

CRAFTED BY ARTISAN HANDS

Our Ritual candles are a full manifestation of artist Anna Karhu-Cormier. This gentle, slow, intentional process begins with what rises from within and around Anna. As an herbalist, a true plant fairy, she learns, connects, and communicates with the plants in her surroundings. She allows what grows around her to become the intentional seed for what will take form in these candles when they reach the end of their natural cycle. In doing so, she transforms them into deeply intentional ritual candles invited into homes to live a second life of their own.

Each seasonal batch is created towards the end of the cycle. Hand-picked and dried. Then begins the waxing process, a slow and tender union. Essential oils and beeswax are added, binding plant memory with wax until they become inseparable. This new shape is born while still cherishing the past life the plants once had. This sweet labour of creation takes up to six months, and each candle carries its own unique beauty.

MEET OUR PARTNER

Based in her own Parisian studio, contemporary marquetry artist Hermine Torikian brings a rare sensitivity to this ancestral craft. Trained first in architecture before mastering cabinetmaking, she spent years working in a Parisian workshop before founding her own studio in 2022. For Hermine, marquetry is the art of applying a "skin" to a surface, working with hands and precision to create depth of textures and colors.

ARTIST JOUNEY

At House of Cassandre, we are on a mission to preserve ancestral craft while finding new ways to bring it into our world with intention. For the Corolle Wooden Board, we worked closely with Paris-based artist Hermine Torikian. Embodying the ancient art of marquetry, she has made it her mission to work exclusively with locally sourced French woods, allowing their incredible variations of natural color to speak for themselves. The Corolle features soft tones of pink, which she achieves by hand-dyeing with logwood, because as she says, "Natural pigments don't just look alive, they are alive." Hermine draws inspiration from curved lines found in nature, antique fans, and the graceful unfloding of petals, constantly searching for that moment when wood seems to breathe and come alive. The Corolle is more than a headboard; it is a statement of conscious luxury. It is 100% free of plastic, containing no hidden chemical dyes or sprays, and held together with only non-toxic natural glue. It is heritage, reimagined for the modern home.

Clandestine Céramique, founded in 2021 by French designer Sophie Agullo, is a creative studio based in Galicia, Spain. Collections are imagined as an ode to nature, an endless source of inspiration, and are composed of functional yet collectible objects, one-of-a-kind, with its own character, carefully crafted by hand in the studio by the Ocean. Clandestine embraces craftsmanship, creative and playful exploration, and celebrates nature in all its forms.  

ARTIST JOURNEY

The ocean is at the heart of Sophie's artistic practice, an emotional space of transformation and evolution. The Divine Mermaid series is a collection of handcrafted ceramics, inspired by marin mythology, where Venus is born from a shell and emerges from the waters. The shell becomes the cradle of beauty, love, and creation. Each piece carries the mystery of creation and the gentle power of the feminine. An ode to the ocean, to the feminine, and to the symbolism of the shell.

CRAFTED BY ARTISAN HANDS

Hand-knotted in Nepal by master artisans who bring generations of Himalayan craftsmanship to every knot. Each rug is a living archive of this lineage, hand-knotted with patience, precision, and love for this ancestral craft.

From there, each rug begins its life as raw Tibetan wool, prized for its lasting strength, natural resilience, and rich lanolin content that delivers a plush, silky softness underfoot. Every knot is tied by hand, a meditative process taking 3-4 months to complete a single rug.

Contemporary artist Zahra Holm is living and working between Stockholm, Sweden and Paris, France. Zahra is fascinated by the human form, the main subject of her work. Her bold use of colours and curvaceous lines create striking compositions that reflect the beauty and power of the human body with a hedonistic approach. Her link to nature and elements is omnipresent. She believes that nature is part of our soul and body. Holm explores themes of symbolism and spirituality, crafting pieces that highlight both movement and inner reflection.
