The Butterfly Portal Rug is born from an exclusive collaboration with London-based artist Nicole Frobusch, transforming her Cymatics inspired artwork into a meditative portal you can walk upon. Her design captures cosmic energy, one that invites you to feel its vibration rather than try to understand it.

One hundred percent botanically dyed using plant alchemy, hand-knotted in Nepal by master artisans with Tibetan wool prized for its lasting strength and natural lanolin softness. This is not merely a floor covering. It is a frequency you live with.

This precious rug is made with all natural materials and colors. To preserve its beauty, we recommend professional cleaning by a rug cleaner who specializes in handmade, natural-dye rugs. They have the expertise to test for dye stability and use specialized techniques to clean without causing colors to bleed.
For daily maintenance, gentle vacuuming is essential to prevent dirt from grinding into the fibers. Always turn off the beater bar and use suction only—this is crucial to protect the delicate silk pile and the integrity of the weave.

Crafted with intention and purpose

Incredibly honored to have translated artist Nicole Frobusch's artwork into our Butterfly Portal Rug. At House of Cassandre, we have truly admired the work of Nicole for years, and when the opportunity came along to turn this artwork into a rug, we wanted to ensure that every step was equally intentional. So finding an atelier that would resonate with her work and our ethos too was essential step. Hence, this became a two-part journey of weaving something utterly precious into high-quality, contemporary rug that transforms energetics into matter.

Crafted by Artisan
Hand-knotted in Nepal by master artisans who bring generations of Himalayan craftsmanship to every knot. Each rug is a living archive of this lineage, hand-knotted with patience, precision, and love for this ancestral craft.
One hundred percent botanically dyed using walnut, safflower, and sandalwood for rich browns and warm beiges. This is the alchemy of plants, creating unique depth, evolving texture, and colour complexity no synthetic dye can replicate. (Full natural dye list available under product details.) From there, each rug begins its life as raw Tibetan wool, prized for its lasting strength, natural resilience, and rich lanolin content that delivers a plush, silky softness underfoot. Every knot is tied by hand, a meditative process taking 3-4 months to complete a single rug.
